​"Someday" explores the relationship and the dreams of two aspiring musicians.

This film is still in need of sound recording and mixing. It is meant to have the two musicians performing "All the things you are" on piano and male vocal, but for now I have the original song by Ella as a placeholder.

This is a short film I made at UCSD with other students. I did the editing, cinematography and lighting. A previous version was made by a different editor, but I had a vision of my own and so received permission to make my own edit.

My vision for the edit was to bookend the film with the performance so that the dream is ever-present, whereas the original script presented the full performance, then the conversation sequentially, for more of a before/after effect.

For the performance portions, we wanted to go for a dreamlike aesthetic which surpasses reality. So I spent lots of time planning the lighting to achieve this effect, and I wanted a floaty and intimate feeling to the cinematography in the performance bits, but distant and idle shots for the conversation portion as a bleak contrast.
